Before writing more about Operating System Deployment articles, I need to upgrade my site server to SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 (CU2). After I install the upgrade, I will install Win10 ADK and then install MDT 2013 Update 1 in the following articles. Before upgrading to SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 (CU2) first we need have SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 on our server. There is a nice step by step article in the following article that explains how to install  SCCM 2012 R2 SP1.


We dont need to install SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU(1), because SCCM 2012 R2 SP1 CU(2) covers all the fixes that CU1 has.  In this article we will update Primary Site Server, console and clients.

After you download the file, run it.

  • Click next on  the Welcome Screen.
  • Accept licence terms
  • Following window will do the Prerequisite Check, click Next


Select "Install the update for the configuration manager console and hit next"



Select Update the database




Choose Automatically apply




Select all the packages and click next













 Click Install on Summary Window and restart the server after the update process finishes.



WADK10 Installation

Uninstall WAIK8.1 from SCCM server now, , reboot and then install WADK10.

 From Console lets check the build number, it should be 5.0.8239.1301



From the registry, check the key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Setup\ . CULevel should be 2. 


On the client machines, check version number in Configuration Manager Properties. It should be 5.0.8239.1301


Let's distribute the packages, Navigate to Software Library / Packages / Configuration Manager Updates



Update the Boot Images:

Open the SCCM Console Go to Software Library / Operating Systems / Boot Images

Select your boot image, right-click and select Update Distribution Points Repeat the steps for all your boot images


Update Clients:

On SCCM Console Navigate to Administration / Site Configuration / Sites

Click the Hierarchy Settings in the top ribbon Select Automatic Client Upgrade tab

Enable the option "Upgrade client automatically when the new client update are available"
